THE ENTANGLED LOOP: UPDATES
UPDATES
This page is the running record of the trilogy since upload. It is the page that does the long-term reputation work for the framework, and it is updated within a week of any significant development. The page is maintained openly, with no curation of negative news. If the canary fails to replicate in an independent cohort, that result will appear here. If a mathematical critique of the unification is published, it will appear here. If a peer-reviewed version of one of the papers makes substantive changes from the preprint, those changes will be noted here.
The page is organised in reverse chronological order, with the most recent entries at the top.
Upload day, xx date — Trilogy posted on bioRxiv
The three companion preprints were posted on bioRxiv simultaneously. The DOIs are:
– One Operator: [DOI]
– The Entangled Loop: [DOI]
– A canary in the mind: [DOI]
The complete code and the documentation are now available on the public repositories listed on the code and data page. External replication of the canary result is the immediate next step. We have identified candidate longitudinal cohorts and are in conversation with potential replication groups. The first independent replication is expected to report within twelve to eighteen months.
The companion preprints will be formally submitted to three journals for peer review. We will not name the journals here while review is in progress, but will update this entry with the outcome when reviews are returned.

Coming entries
This section is a placeholder for the kinds of entries that will appear over time. It will be replaced by real entries as they accrue.
– Peer-review outcomes for each of the three papers, with links to the final published versions.
– Independent replication results, whether positive or negative.
– Substantive responses to the framework from the consciousness-research community, with our considered response where appropriate.
– Corrections or errata to the preprints.
– Related papers from our group that build on the framework.
– New software releases for the VIC pipeline and related tools.
– Notable misrepresentations in press coverage.

A note on how this page is maintained
Entries on this page are written by the trilogy’s authors and are reviewed before posting. Each entry carries a date and, where relevant, a link to the underlying source. Entries are not deleted once posted, although they may be supplemented with later notes if a developing situation changes our reading of an earlier event.
We commit to posting an entry within one week of any significant development. We commit to posting negative replication results with the same prominence as positive ones. We commit to noting peer-review outcomes promptly, including any substantive changes to the work that result from review.
If you are aware of a development we should be tracking and have not posted about, please get in touch through the contact page. We are particularly grateful for early notice of forthcoming replication attempts, so that we can ensure our documentation is in order before the attempt is made.
